Cust-O-Fab, a leader in the design and manufacturing of shell and tube heat exchangers, vessels, towers, and other heat transfer components, in the petrochemical industry for 50 years is currently seeking a Project Manager/Estimator-ACHE in our Catoosa location.
Position Summary:
The Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for all air cooler sales efforts from Customer RFQ through to product sale. This position performs the critical mechanical and estimating functions of designing and costing an air cooler. Clear focus on estimating, ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication are essential to every project’s success. The corresponding customer and company interactions to successfully sell the product with minimized business risk is based on the expectation of this role, which is to build and promote strong, long-lasting relationships between the customer and COF.
Mechanical Design Responsibilities Include:
Reviewing customer RFQ packages to ensure the quotation and ultimate project scope falls within Cust-O-Fab’s capabilities.
Reviewing and noting customer required specifications that may increase fabrication/testing time or cost. Negotiating alternate solutions with Customer also a part of this responsibility.
Performing ASME code related calculations to determine accurate estimates for applicable pressure vessel components such as tubes and headers.
Working with Engineering and Shop Management, when necessary, to verify potential design/fabrication issues and/or opportunities.
Design Estimating Responsibilities Include:
Calculating material and fabrication time estimates, including considerations for any additional requirements found during review and negotiation of the customer RFQ.
Utilizing estimated bill of materials, communicating with purchasing and approved Cust-O-Fab suppliers to gather accurate material estimates which support proposed design’s bid validity.
Competitively incorporating feedback from engineering and manufacturing into the proposed design’s labor hour estimates for alloy and atypical designs.
Customer and Business Responsibilities Include:
Work with the Business Development team to identify leads, makes sales presentations, cultivate a sales network, and develop new business opportunities.
Identify project opportunities and conduct preliminary feasibility analyses to screen potential opportunities to fit Cust-O-Fab’s air cooler product line capabilities.
Assist engineers, contractors, and end-user customers in requirements analysis, develop innovative solutions, and lead the presentation of results in multi-party review meetings
Utilize developed air cooler designs, prepare budget and firm proposals for customers throughout the downstream oil and gas industries.
Close sales and support the business during order execution according to customer specifications, schedules and budget; maintain productive contact with the customer, monitor plant performance and service after commissioning to ensure customer satisfaction.
Act as liaison between the company, customers, OEMs, and vendors of complementary equipment (example Cust-O-Fab shell and tube heat exchangers).
Provide business regular updates on active proposals with feedback including but not limited to % chance of success, bid competitiveness against competition, and projected purchase order date.
Represent Cust-O-Fab in local, regional, and national tradeshows, working groups, seminars, and industry related committees
The best candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university or equivalent industry related supervisory experience is required.
5+ years sales and engineering experience in engineered-to-order air cooled heat exchanger products serving the oil and gas industries is preferred.
Strong knowledge of ASME VIII Div. 1 design & construction, TEMA, and other industry standards (API, PIP, Engineering Practices, etc.) is preferred.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in verbal communication in public venue.
Ability to communicate technical requirements to Sales team during the quote stages.
Proficiency in the following tools: HTRI Xace, Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook)
Knowledge of API 661 7th Edition and downstream customer specifications and expectations a plus.
