Cust-O-Fab, a leader in the design and manufacturing of shell and tube heat exchangers, vessels, towers, and other heat transfer components, in the petrochemical industry for 50 years is currently seeking a Buyer for our Sand Springs location.
Job Profile and Essential Functions
The Buyer II will coordinate activities involved in the Procurement process, including procuring a combination of materials, services and supplies, as well as interacting with suppliers and vendors on a daily basis. The duties are as follows:
Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items, and recommending alternatives
Track inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery
Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price
Check requisitions, obtain quotes, and examine bids
Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtain approval from requisitioning department
Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring and expediting orders
Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered
Resolves shipments in error with suppliers
Interact with the suppliers daily to receive the best price and delivery possible; negotiate and maintain vendor pricing
Measure and monitor supplier performance
Meet established goals for production, including cost savings, inventory turns, and supplier consolidation
Analyze assigned commodities and implement action plans to reduce cost
May be required to travel between Cust-O-Fab sites for business purposes including meetings, training, etc
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Minimum 5 years’ Buying experience in Manufacturing environment
Ability to track budget expenses
Ability to build and maintain vendor relationships
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to thoroughly analyze information
Documentation skills
Physical requirements
