Cust-O-Fab, a leader in the design and manufacturing of shell and tube heat exchangers, vessels, towers, and other heat transfer components, in the petrochemical industry for over 40 years is currently seeking a Heat Treatment Technician.
This job is based in Sand Springs, OK and is not a traveling job.
Position Summary:
The primary role of the Heat Treatment Technician is to set up and perform controlled heat treating to offset the high temperature effects of welding. The Heat Treatment Technician will be responsible for performing additional heating applications including, but not limited to, hydrogen brake outs, pre-heating, refractory curing, heat alignments, lower temperature line heating and similar thermal processes as mandated by need and/or international code requirements.
Loading, assembling, disassembling, and maintenance of heat-treating equipment
Fastening, securing, or welding thermocouples (using capacitor discharge units) to work piece
Installing and removing thermal heating pads, electrical resistance heaters, induction coils, and insulation
Utilizing hand tolls and some light power tools
Distributing and connecting secondary power cables to heating elements and thermocouples
Controlling and monitoring measurement equipment, instruments, digital process controllers, and computer operated systems
Operating portable control systems, including generators
Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting codes and quality control programs for heat treat applications
The best candidates will possess the following qualifications:
Ability to interact and clearly communicate with employers, clients, and coworkers, and demonstrate a dedication to professional attitudes and trade practices
Ability to analyze job requirements including technical documents referencing heat treatment applications
Knowledge of technology used in the industry (digital control, measuring instruments, equipment software, etc.)
Understand the principles of metallurgy, electricity, combustion and heat transfer methods
Ability to interpret isometrics, schematics, blue prints, and other drawings relating to piping systems, vessels, and applicable work pieces
Knowledge of “trade math” to convert measurements, calculate mass and volume, and calculate electrical requirements, etc.
Ability to maintain job-related records for themselves and others
Ability to supervise crews and document procedures that are performed (including identifying/explaining these records to audible standards)
Ability to trouble shoot heat treatment equipment and instillations
Knowledge of appropriate safety training required for working on industrial sites and working at heights
Knowledge of safe work practices and training (confined space, working at heights, fall protection, etc.)
